Alpha Harris Hawks Optimization based Overcurrent Relay Coordination with Hybrid Time-Current-Voltage Characteristics Considering the Grid-Connected Distributed Generation

The conventional protection schemes may lead towards the inadvertent operation of devices with increased penetration renewable energy sources based distributed generation (RES-DG) in distribution networks (DN). miscoordination and malfunctioning directional overcurrent relays (DOCR) occur due to significant change fault current level (FCL) network topology form radial ring caused by RES-DG. Optimization algorithms (OA) modification relay characteristics were mostly used tackle DOCR problem. However, this paper, a fast an accurate coordination scheme is proposed eliminate reduce overall time DOCRs employing advance optimization algorithm along innovative characteristics. In first step, time-current (TCC) are modified hybrid time-current-voltage (TCV) including effect voltage equation. Thereafter, performance Harris Hawk’s (HHO) enhanced improvement exploration strength HHO adaptive mutation-selection alpha hawks during each iteration named as alpha-HHO (α-HHO). problem formulated non-linear constrained evaluated on IEEE-8 bus meshed DN. standard test system integrating multiple squirrel cage induction generators PV-based RES-DGs at optimal locations.
